Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by the Monarch at Royal Windsor Investiture

The football icon received a honorary title at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The ex-national team leader, 50, was one of the individuals accepting honours for his services to athletics and charity. In recent months, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being acknowledged in the King’s birthday honours.

Football Career Highlights

The player made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was part of the team that secured a thrilling European Cup win in the late nineties when they beat Bayern Munich with last-minute strikes.

In total, he scored eighty-five scores and garnered accolades including multiple English championships and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in 2013. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has supported a number of charity causes, including serving as a goodwill ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Charitable and Other Roles

In the previous year, the sports star, who has described himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was named an official representative for the King’s Foundation, an non-profit organization founded by the King in the early nineties. In the late nineties he was declared most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has posed for companies such as the fashion retailer, the Italian designer, and the luxury label.

David tied the knot with Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the pair have a family of four kids together – their eldest, the second son, Cruz, and their daughter.
