Three Lions Team Selection Announced: Jude and Foden Omitted, Saka Returns

Thomas Tuchel has opted to stick with the identical England squad that triumphed against their previous opponents and delivered an impressive performance in Belgrade last month, leaving no room for Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden in his selection for the forthcoming exhibition match against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in the Baltic nation.

Although Phil Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after rediscovering his form at his club, and Jude Bellingham having returned for his Spanish club following shoulder surgery, the head coach has opted not to selecting two of the country's most prominent attacking talents. The young midfielder has been in the starting lineup just a single time for his team since his return.

Tuchel has made room for the Arsenal winger, who is fully recovered and has been reinstated in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. Jack Grealish has not been handed a recall.

The national team coach expressed his admiration for the energy in last month's squad and appears determined to keeping the same atmosphere. Tino Livramento, who featured at the defensive flank in the convincing victory in Belgrade, has dropped out due to a knee injury. Tuchel has not called up a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has included the Manchester City defender, who had to pull out last month. Tuchel has spoken about the centre-back's significance for the national team and has suggested using him in midfield.

No spot has been found for the midfielder, who was called up last month but pulled out due to injury and was replaced by the Milan player.

Tuchel said: “A mere three weeks since the previous gathering and the most recent victory, the latest display, so the consideration was why not bring the same group in because they established a benchmark. Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have regrettably two injuries at the moment with Livramento and Noni and we bring of course Bukayo Saka in to replace Madueke. Jarell Quansah was a last-minute addition previously; he will stay in camp.”
